SOCAR, BP mull current cooperation on energy projects

SOCAR management met with Helge Lund, Chairman of the BP Management Board, Gordon Birrell, Executive Vice President of the company for Production and Operations, and Lord John Philip Brown, former CEO of the company, who participated in the signing of the Contract of the Century.

According to SOCAR, the sides expressed satisfaction with the effective activities of BP in Azerbaijan, the long-term successful cooperation between SOCAR and BP. It was emphasized that owing to the wise and far-sighted policy of the national leader of the Azerbajani people, Heydar Aliyev, the Contract of the Century, signed on September 20, 1994, laid the foundation for a new energy strategy of Azerbaijan and made an important contribution to the economic development of the region.

The parties reviewed the existing opportunities for cooperation on energy projects, exchanged views on the exchange of experience in the field of human capital and other issues of mutual interest.
